Despite some improvements in testing scores among Colorado students since the pandemic, a significant number are still falling short of academic expectations. The state education board is now focusing on strategies to address this ongoing issue, particularly among students who are frequently absent or underperforming in their studies.
The board recognizes that absenteeism has a direct correlation with academic achievement, and they are committed to implementing initiatives that encourage regular attendance and engagement in the classroom. This includes targeted support for students who are struggling, as well as outreach programs aimed at families to emphasize the importance of consistent school attendance.
In addition to addressing absenteeism, the education board plans to enhance resources for teachers and schools to better support students facing academic challenges. The goal is to create a more equitable educational environment where every student has the opportunity to succeed, ultimately improving overall performance across the state.
